About
Hello! I’m Bharat and if you love to trek or cycle in India then you’ve found your blog.
What began in 2015 as an effort to document my treks has since morphed into a resource with over 135 articles on hiking and cycling in India that is accessed over 10,000 times every month.
History
It is 2015 and I’m looking for trek information in India. Yet, most of the information that I find online is either factually incorrect or the provider is trying to sell me a trekking package. I figure that an Indian trekker deserves better. He/She deserves a website that
- Has no conflict of interest i.e. is not trying to sell you something.
- Is factually correct - there is a huge difference between 3800 and 3100-metre elevation.
- Encourages sharing - Shares and encourages sharing self-created GPS files, images and videos.
- Provides in-depth gear test - does not regurgitate a manufacturers’ brochure, but provides an in-depth analysis of the product in the Indian context.
- Teaches outdoor ethos - rather than trying to monetise that knowledge.
More
inditramp is all about detailed gear reviews, trek details (including GPS files) and stories about hiking & cycling in India. Sometimes, I write about my other pursuits like sustainable living in the mountains, woodcarving and offbeat travel.
I started as an alpinist but after a debilitating knee injury in 2005, I am restricted to hiking and cycling. I have over two decades of high-altitude trek experience and have cycled through 23 countries in Europe and Africa. Because of my alpine roots, I veer towards ultralight & independent trekking. I aim to get you outdoor whether on foot or a bicycle and enjoy this wonderful country.
